For me, it is not a gay movie, gay movie always depicts lust and sex. But LOS with the great handling of the Director, he makes the Love of Siam realistic and with touch of handling a fragile love in a real world of life of human being. Depicting a great sense of responsibility of the family, as a human being and relationship within one another and to other people.

First of all, please don't stereotype. Just because a film is quite graphic doesn't mean it's not realistic and that it's not a "good" gay movie. What I'm saying is that just because TLOS doesn't contain "lust and sex" doesn't mean it's not a gay movie. After all, there's no way for the director to actually "depict lust and sex" in the movie since it's not an adult film in the first place. Would someone even think of making a film which shows a couple of twinks going at it(and then show it to people of all ages)? Perhaps a perverted pornographer would.

Though the film is pervasive and tackles a lot of issues, it still revolves around two gorgeous boys who love each other. If that's not gay, I don't know what is.
So to answer your question, YES, I think it's a gay film. Ask the director and I believe he'd say the same thing(why conceal it from millions of people if you didn't think its being gay-themed would change people's minds about watching the film, right mr. chooki?). Twisted Evil

I completely agree with this.... I also believe that is a gay movie incorporated with family and love issues.

a gay movie doesnt necessarily need to have lust and sex scenes in order for it to be considered as one. I am very happy how the director was able to portray the gay theme without having to use sex scenes usually present in those kinds of movies. The love between the two male characters is, I believe, enough to say that it is a gay movie.

Yep., There is nothing wrong with TLOS being tagged as a gay movie., Let the story speak for itself... plus the branding doesn't necessarily affect the views of the people who are intellectual enough not to juxtaposed a gay movie to an erotic spectacle... Very Happy

On a more interesting note, I guess some of the Filipinos have these kind of views because this is what our local cinema is gearing us to., Observe that most indie gay flicks are tickling the fancies of the viewers through malicious sex scenes., I believe this is done for commercial purposes... because even if we like it or not, this type of film sells...

Nonetheless, it's up to us to really judge how a gay movie should be like... Very Happy

Ay nose bleed sa thread na to.. haha!

Hmmm.. I think TLOS is more of a family oriented than of a gay film. In my opinion, the story of mew and tong have is only part of a bigger picture which is their relationship with their family.

So, is TLOS a gay movie? No.. Maybe a sub theme... hahaha!

    is TLOS a gay movie?...

some people would say "YES, it is a gay movie", those people don't have a sense in watching a movie like that...

    but as for me...

it is not a gay movie...

    (hirap mag english)

kung titignan mo, hindi porke nag halikan si mew at tong eh masasabi mo nang gay movie yan.

    nope...

    it is not...

the movie is particularly on the family life...

isang simple kissing scene between the two boys involve its totally a gay movie???im not sure,,,it is not i definitely conclude..

basta go,go,go lang sa TLOS hindi ko siya maipag papalit...sana may part two pa.... lol!

First impression ko gay movie siya kasi nasa Alternative Preferences forums yung movie na 'to (post ni Vertud21).

When I watched it, nagulat ako 3 hours. Inisip ko, 3 hours ng kabaklaan. Haha. Laughing

Now, siguro hindi gaano. Pero may gay component siya. Hindi ko naiisip na may kiss/bed scene si Mew at Tong during some parts of the movie eh. Smile

Do you consider LOS as Gay Movie? Empty story

    Post by patrick83 March 1st 2009, 10:00 pm

Just watch the movie kahapon, i am still so sad about it, but i just want some ppl to here my thoughts. I have a relationship sobra sakto sa mvi, except the missing sister and heart broken dad.
The movie made me realize that being in love, me and my best friend is possible. Di ko alam if gay ako or not cuz truly never ako nagkagusto sa guys. Had 4 relationships even with the opposite sex, i always think that it was just a phase, but hindi e, when i am with him i am happy, i feel secured. Like mew i felt the loneliness without him, the hole that hurts you every time you breathe. Ngayon na i watch the movie and happy for my us, because sa lahat ng tao sa mundo we found each other. Sobrang swerte lalo na in a very young age pa, we found each other and it was not about lust, it was from being pals in school, close friends, best friends, now "special friends" It would take a long time for society to accept, that that kind love is possible. That love that transcends lust and sexual preference, but at the end of the day there is still hope. In the future will will have wives and kids for sure, but i am sure that will never separate cuz our kind of love can never be replaced.

    Thanks for the listen

wow, ganda ng mga theories, hehe.

ako naman, i think it would be seasonal. nung maliit sila, the love was there. then nawala si tong for a while. tapos nung bumalik siya, feelings resurfaced. but then, tong chose his family... so umalis ulit siya.

uncertain ako to think that they'll be together. kasi for me, the selection of the christmas tree (alpha=birth) ornaments represents his final decision while the toy-nose giving represents closure (omega=death). new year rin so parang one chapter ends, another begins. pale

ano ba yan, nadepress ako sa sinulat ko lol!
